The ZHS Reunion will be June 5-7 in Portland, Maine. We will stay at the Portland Holiday Inn by the Bay, at 88 Spring Street, Portland Maine 04101.
It's a nice hotel in the center of town, walking distance to the harbor, shops and restaurants.

I encourage you to arrive on Thursday, as this will give you a chance to do some things like: visit LLBean; take a harbor cruise; visit some of Portland's historic mansions; shop in the Old Port; have a lobster dinner on the waterfront; and more. I also want to tell you that Sunday, June 7, is the annual Old Port Festival in Portland--a terrific day-long event with music, art shows, entertainment, food and drink, lots of fun. If you can't arrive early, maybe you'll choose to stay through Sunday night instead--or at least, schedule a late flight out of Portland.

Portland is served by many major airlines. And you can take Air Tran or Jet Blue to Portland from many USA cities. Another option is to fly on Southwest Airlines to Manchester, New Hampshire, and rent a car from there (a good option if you have a frequent flier ticket on Southwest.). Manchester is about 95 miles from Portland and takes about 1 hour and 45 min by car.

The Holiday Inn by the Bay is holding rooms for us. Their price is $140/night per room. However, I've discovered a better price on the Holiday Inn corporate web site. Rooms at these rates are strictly limited, so it's "first-come-first-served." These prices may disappear at any moment, so I suggest you book as soon as possible. You can cancel without penalty (up to the day of arrival), so you have nothing to lose by booking now. These discounted rates are "Great Rates" and won't last long. The same prices are available as "Advanced Purchase" rates, but these must be paid in advance and are non-refundable. (Free parking with all rates)

If the "Great Rates" are gone when you try to book, you can get the same price for "Advanced Purchase" rates, but you must pre-pay. If you don't want to pre-pay (non-refundable) you should make a reservation directly with the Holiday Inn by the Bay (207-775-2311) and say that you are in the ZHS Reunion group in order to get the $140 rate. (This is also a discounted rate.)

Both the Great Rates and the Advanced Purchase rates will pay me a small commission. I will turn this over to the group, and it will help to pay for the hospitality suite at the hotel. (But in order for me to get credit for the commission, you'll need to put my IATA # into your reservation.....see below on how to do it.)In order to book the "Great Rates" or "Advanced Purchase" rates:

1) Go to www.holidayinn.com

2) At the top of the page, click on "reservations" in the orange bar across the top of the screen, under the green Holiday Inn logo. THIS IS IMPORTANT in order to get the commission for our group. (Do NOT enter your arrival information on this first page.)

3) On the page that comes up, enter Portland, ME as the town, enter your arrival date and check out date, room preference. Then go down to where it says "Corporate, Group &AITA Identification: Click on the orange + sign in front of this, then enter 10705645 where it asks for IATA #.

4) Click on "Find Hotels" and select the "Portland by the Bay."
5) Select your room and click on "Reserve." The "GreatRates" are currently $115.60 for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. They are higher for Sunday night ($159), but the web site will show you an average price per night. It's about $126 if you stay Thursday through Sunday (4 nights) and about $130 if you stay Friday through Sunday (3 nights).

You will be able to make the reservation with a 6 p.m. check-in and no advance payment, or you can give your credit card info to hold the room for late check in.

It is VERY IMPORTANT to get the IATA # entered before you book. This is the only way we'll get credit for the commission on the rooms. (The commission is very small, but it will help with our total costs!)

After you make the reservation. you need to send me (mblindung@yahoo.com) an email giving me the following information.
1. That you made your reservation.
2. What nights you'll be at the hotel
3. The room rate you received.
4. Your reservation #.
This is also very important, as I have to add all the reservations to a list in order for the commission to be processed.
